Just Married Letter 2021

Hello, Just Married creator! Thank you for writing for me! I'm Mal or Mali (malachiical @ AO3 as well); I'll try to keep each individual section of this letter brief, and you should be able to skip to wherever you like with anchor links and/or just expand the parts relevant to you via cut. I hope our ids align and you have a blast writing, because I'm definitely looking forward to whatever you come up with!

Hiruma Youichi (Eyeshield 21)/Ootori Kyouya (Ouran High School Host Club)

This ship strikes me as fascinating and with a ton of potential for fun stuff! Hiruma and Kyouya are incredibly different people, but also alike in a lot of ways that I think could both make them respect one another, be impressed by one another, see the value in one another, and also sometimes grate on each others' nerves like hell. They are both likely to know way too much about each other, and about each others' clubmates/teammates, and I could easily see them being on mostly equal footing.

I'm betting both would have a hard time actually pulling off blackmailing the other (or people close enough to the other to have any of their protection) or really getting one over on the other, with maybe one or two moments on either side where they get the upper hand for a VERY short period before the other manages to get things back under control. This would usually leave them having to approach each other in other ways, either more subtle manipulation (that they're both probably aware of and also aware that they're both aware of) or flat-out making deals with each other for mutual benefit. Which is great because they'd also make a scary good team when and if they did come together, so I could also see them both being savvy enough to seek the other out as a useful contact to get and to uphold.

Basically, with these two I especially like the idea of them being basically evenly matched, and them being drawn to each other specifically because of that. Neither of them actually being able to have the upper hand over the other or really intimidate the other is a key part of why I'm interested in them!

(I would also like to mention that while Hiruma resembles Kyouya waaaay more than he resembles Tamaki, still, Jesus, blond boys who are super passionate about a thing are going to be the death of Kyouya seriously. I am also fine with some minor former or current one-sided Kyouya->Tamaki feelings, and it's cool if Hiruma has some one-sided feelings for someone, I don't really have Feelings Preferences there. Just assume that he and Mamori aren't together, feelings can have happened but whether it's one-sided or a handwavey breakup or just something they decided wouldn't work is fine, I imagine they're still on fine terms.)

  • Anniversary - 1st Year
I'd be really interested to see how these two might relate to one another after a year of marriage, whether they'd married for love or not! What would they even do for an anniversary? Would it be anything at all traditional or nothing even approaching normal? Would they do anything for the day at all or might they be somewhat surprised that it's actually been a full year? Is anyone else surprised they lasted that long while they knew they would? Or, if they married for more practical reasons, is around the one-year mark maybe when they start realizing/admitting that they've caught some feelings? I'd love any take on a "year after the wedding" scenario, whatever you think it might look like for these two!

  • Arranged Marriage - Future Spouses Are Forbidden To Meet But Are Able to Study One Another's Hobbies
  • Soul Bond - Accidental Bond is Cultural Equivalent of Marriage
  • Soul Bond - Dancing At Friend's Wedding Leads To Unexpected Soul Bond
This set of prompts is mostly "tropes that aren't actually a thing in either canon but GO FOR IT." For an arranged marriage, how old were they when this was arranged? How long have they known about it? Why was it arranged between them specifically? I love that prompt in large part because "able to study one another's hobbies" might very well just mean that they specifically are skilled enough to be able to do so, rather than outright being allowed, and it could be fun whichever way you decided to play it: either with them getting the wrong ideas about one another or both managing to get a very good idea of the other person before they meet! As for the soul bonds... For the first tag, I'm curious about how common accidental bonds are, how they happen at all, and if rich/influential families are maybe careful about who their children meet and how they interact with others to avoid "unsuitable" matches. For the second tag, I could enjoy them knowing each other fairly well by the time it happens, only vaguely knowing one another, or this actually being the first time they've met!

  • Courtship - Unconventional Courtship that Ends in Marriage
Let's be real, with these two -- especially with Hiruma, but I mean, come on, Kyouya too probably -- it would be a very unconventional courtship. I'd love to see what you come up for with that! Are they both trying to court one another from the start? If not, does the person doing the "courting" at first even realizing he is? Which one of them figures it out first, or do both of them kinda realize at the same time what they're doing?

  • Engagement - Engaged in Secret
  • Marrying for Love - Breaking Betrothal Agreement to Marry Someone Family Doesn’t Approve Of
These are the more straightforward prompts when it comes to reasons-for-marrying! If they're engaged in secret there's probably some actual feelings there as a reason to not be outing with it right away. What are they waiting for? And with the marrying for love tag, it definitely makes the most sense of Kyouya's father to have betrothed him to someone and his family to be the one that doesn't approve of Hiruma, and I am absolutely here for that catnip!

  • Fake Marriage - As Part Of A Con
THIS MAKES ME REALLY HAPPY. Who are they getting something over on? Is it someone they mutually want to con, or is one agreeing to help out the other (with expectations of return, maybe)? Are they actually together already, or do they maybe realize they have some feelings during the ruse or even after it's over?

  • Fake Marriage - Characters Marry for the Benefits (Don't Count on Falling in Love)
  • Marriage of Convenience - Slowly Falling in Love with Spouse
  • Political Marriage - Real Feelings Develop
The other major set of prompts when it comes to reasons-for-marrying. I feel like these two could make a great team and they're both smart enough to realize it, so them deciding to solidify that partnership while totally platonic could make a whole lot of sense! But then, of course, things don't go totally according to plan because real actual romantic feelings slip in... For political marriage, you could even go for this being an arranged marriage that they said "yeah, alright" to!

  • Forbidden Marriage - One Spouse Crossdresses To Get Around Ban On Gay Marriage
  • Proposal - Attempts to Propose are Continuously Interrupted
  • Wedding Reception - Interrupted by Canon-Typical Shenanigans
THESE TAGS ARE THE SHENANIGANS TAGS. For the crossdressing, I don't even care if it absolutely legally would not work in-universe, and I could easily see it not even being Kyouya's idea but him just going along with it. For proposal, I don't mind which of them is trying to propose (or if they both happen to be trying on the same day/week/whatever!), I just love the idea of the Host Club and the Devil Bats and assorted other characters from their canons interrupting them in ridiculous ways. And for the wedding reception... I mean, the tag says it all. As long as there's some shippiness and a happy ending, play around and have fun if you choose one of these tags!

  • Supernatural - Married to a Demon
  • Supernatural - Married to a Vampire
  • Supernatural - Married to a Werewolf
Whether you go with a bigger AU or "just like canon except [character] is secretly a [being]," I would love any of these! And though it says "married to," I'd be happy to receive fic that deals with earlier stages than established marriage, as well. Is Hiruma an actual demon rather than just a Deimon Devil Bat? Or is Hiruma a human that everyone thinks is terrifyingly devilish while Kyouya is actually a very smooth demon himself? Is Hiruma a werewolf or an uncharacteristically wild vampire? Is Kyouya a vampire or an uncharacteristically smooth, dignified, put together werewolf? (If you go with vampire or werewolf, you can have one be a vampire and one be a werewolf if you like, and I don't care which way around! Or of course you can just go with one!)

  • Wedding - Decoy Wedding To Ensure Real Wedding Goes Smoothly
  • Wedding - Fake Wedding To Bait Criminals and/or Enemies
These tags are so fun. Who would even be out to interrupt their wedding? Whoever it is, I love the idea that they both just knew it was gonna be a thing (or at least suspected it) and set up a fake ceremony just to draw their enemies out. In the first, there definitely is a real wedding, and I don't mind if the decoy wedding is happening concurrently (maybe with the Ootori private police force ready to take care of things) or if it happens before the real one in order to remove a single known threat (maybe a business competitor?). In the second, is there even a real wedding or are Hiruma and Kyouya not getting married? Are they together, do they get together, are they together and think this went so well that maybe they should consider a formal partnership (ie marriage)?

  • Wedding Night - Real Wedding Night For Fake Marriage
Oh boy I don't even mind what "fake marriage" entails in this case tbh. Was there a fake ceremony? Were they just lying to someone about being newlyweds for some reason? Whatever the case, this tag is an excuse for smut! I could easily see this as a situation where they weren't even together at all and abruptly realize they are really (at least sexually) into each other and act on it, or a situation where they've had sex before but the sex they have this time is unexpectedly influenced by their ruse and is more affectionate/emotional than they're used to, or something between those two things! Or, alternately, was it a real wedding (like with the "Characters Marry for the Benefits" tag I chose) but they have no intention of it becoming romantic but they realize they actually are DTF (and maybe a bit of feelings start forming there)?

Canon-Specific DNWs

  • smut with either character under 16
Canon-Specific Likes

  • noncanon background pairings I actually enjoy if they happen to come up: Sena/Monta, Sena/Suzuna, Mamori/Suzuna, Musashi/Kurita, Jumonji/Kuroki/Togano, Natsuhiko/Ishimaru, basically any from the other teams, Hikaru/Kaoru, Honey/Mori, Nekozawa/Tamaki, Kasanoda/Tetsuya, Haruhi/Renge, Haruhi/basically any of the hosts singularly or together...
  • NAMING CONVENTIONS. Hiruma usually comes up with somewhat dismissive/insulting/abraisive things to call people, so what about if/when he uses Kyouya's name? is Kyouya on a first or last name basis with him? feel free to include honorifics if you like as well, extrapolating from the characters' usage of them in canon.
  • if you're interested, I like trans headcanons for these characters! I like the idea of Kyouya as a trans girl or nonbinary, but trans boy is fine too, and anything's fine for Hiruma or pretty much any of the other characters. if Haruhi shows up or is mentioned I also have a slight preference for her as nonbinary, but trans boy is fine -- just not trans girl, please! and of course trans headcanons aren't obligatory!
  • I am actually always into the idea of the Host Club as all being girls who are pretending to be guys, just like Haruhi, either with the other Ouran students aware or not -- maybe it's an all girls' school? so feel free to play with that genderswap AU, with the Devil Bats genderswapped as well or not! Hiruma/Kyouya being m/f or f/f are both fine if you go this route!

Marvel 616
J. Jonah Jameson/Quentin Beck

I just love how weirdly tied to Jameson and the Bugle a lot of Mysterio's earliest career and attempts at defeating Spider-Man are! First Quentin Beck pretends to be Spider-Man, then once the Bugle turns the city against him, he sends J. Jonah Jameson specifically a note "saying he could get rid of Spider-Man single-handed" to get a meeting with him and gets Jonah totally on his side to the point of being basically heralded as a hero! Then about 2 years later, after Jameson again turns the people of New York against Spider-Man (unprompted this time), Beck contacts Jameson and the Bugle again pretending to be a renowned European psychiatrist named Dr. Ludwig Rinehart, convincing him that Spider-Man is on the verge of going insane and then proceeding to try to gaslight Spider-Man into thinking he's nuts and revealing his secret identity to him.

The fact that Quentin Beck keeps going to J. Jonah Jameson and the Bugle, and Jonah keeps eagerly helping despite not knowing the score because he just hates Spider-Man THAT MUCH, combined with the fact that in multiple other storylines Jonah has actually created supervillains in an attempt to bring down Spider-Man, makes me think the two could actually get along really well. Especially since Mysterio's crimes, according to some issues of canon, just don't have a body count, and at some points (like in the arc where he's secretly in charge of a nursing home) even his attempts to kill Spider-Man are totally illusory and he's actually unnecessarily protective of innocent people.

Speaking of which, part of why I really enjoy these two is how close to the line both of them are. J. Jonah Jameson is deep down a kind man but is also a little bit willing to compromise his newspaper to take down Spider-Man and even, as mentioned, goes so far as to commission and create supervillains to try to take Spider-Man down. Quentin Beck is a supervillain who is also careful not to actually kill anyone (and is crushed the first time someone accidentally dies during one of his crimes) and who has tried to retire multiple points in his career, who seems mostly to be treating supervillainy as a game. They both hate Spider-Man and neither of them is actually that bad a person, but one of them happens to be a supervillain, and I find that kind of great. I could love Jonah taking that final step into supervillainy, or just being willing to work and sleep with and romance with Quentin even while he's Mysterio... I could also really love the idea of Quentin trying to go straight and do something other than supervillainy and getting support from Jonah, who once believed in and gave a chance to Foswell even after the whole Big Man situation. Any of those scenarios could be nice!

  • Accidental Engagement - Joke Marriage Proposal on TV Mistaken As Real by the Press
This one is very specific, and honestly, I had to choose it when I saw it because the idea that popped into my head made me grin. Jameson is in charge of one of the major press publications in New York City (more than one, if you keep the fact that the occasional comics detail that the Bugle offices also publish at least one magazine), but the Daily Bugle definitely isn't the only one out there; he has competitors, even ones who personally dislike him. So if Mysterio happened to jokingly/mockingly propose while some news cameras were running or the like, someone out there might be willing to run with the story both because it's likely to get a lot of people's attention and to mess with Jameson specifically! How would both of them react to that? So long as there's definitely something between them by the end I don't mind if this one doesn't lead to a real wedding or proposal or anything!

  • Courtship - Unconventional Courtship that Ends in Marriage
I really feel like Beck, specifically, would be likely to not go for a traditional sort of courtship. Some comics present him as being less confident around people when he's not doing the Mysterio thing, or maybe he's just having a lot of fun with it. Or rather than being being showy and offbeat because performer, or doing thing sneakily because wanted criminal? Have fun playing around with what unconventional might mean! How would Jameson feel about it, at first or later on, when it'd probably be a lot different than he's used to? Is it weird, intriguing, exciting, strangely charming?

  • Engagement - Comfort and Promising to Do Better Than Dysfunctional Birth Family of Spouse(s)
It's superhero comics and all the villains have shitty childhoods~! Seriously, when it's applicable I'm honestly a sucker for the trope of one character getting worried they'll end up just end up duplicating their parents' relationship (or parenting). opening up to their partner, and getting comfort and reassurance. Comics don't say basically anything about Quentin Beck's mother, Henrietta, but even at a fairly early point in his childhood she seemed to be basically a nonentity in his life and no help or comfort against his father, Elmore, who was abusive, willing to smack Quentin, break his things, and tear down his aspiration and dreams. It'd make sense if the two didn't have a great relationship, either, whether Henrietta stuck around, left, or died. Beck could have quite a lot of insecurities and worries about all that and I would love for Jameson to reassure him!

  • Engagement - Relationship was Assumed to be a Fling Until Surprise Engagement Announcement
Okay, it's honestly really easy to suspect Beck of faking things and being manupulative and using someone else for a scheme, though it'd be unusual for him to do it as himself rather than making up at least a false name and maybe an entire false face to go with it. It's also probably easy to assume most if not all of the NYC supervillains are just heartless and/or don't care much about other people. And pretty much everyone but Robbie Robertson seems to think of and call Jameson a hard-ass and pretty near heartless himself, especially in a lot of early issues. So even if anyone found out they had a Thing, it'd probably come as a surprise to find out that one of them proposed, much less that the other accepted! Does the Bugle staff wonder what's gotten into Jameson? Is Peter Parker still suspicious that Beck might be using Jameson for something? I'd like for there to be no tricks, honestly, but actually real feelings between them; the engagement should be legit even if other people are doubtful about it!

  • Established Marriage - Decide to Adopt a Pet Together
  • Established Marriage - Happy and Domestic
I've said it before and I'll say it again, I honestly think these two could be surprisingly sweet once established and I'd love to read something that takes place once they've already been together for a bit! "Happy and domestic" is pretty general and feel free to go with anything, either normally domestic or a bit unusual, with Beck either being reformed or still dabbling in crime or still a full-on supervillain... Deciding to adopt a pet together is just a cute prompt and I love the idea of both of them really adoring whatever animal they wind up getting. Feel free to have them get it from a pet store or a shelter or just pick up a stray if you go with that prompt!

  • Fake Marriage - Fake Dating Leads To Real Wedding
  • Fake Marriage - That Leads To Real Feelings
  • Fake Marriage - Undercover As Married Leads To Unexpected Feelings
  • Wedding Night - Real Wedding Night For Fake Marriage
With Beck in the mix, I couldn't resist some fake dating/fake marriage tags! And I love what was fake turning real. Why were they faking? With dating, Beck could actually have been faking feelings at first to try to use Jameson in a scheme or even just to keep him from interfering with one of Beck's plots (to unmask or take out Spider-Man?) and then actually start falling for him. Or faking dating or marriage could be part of a plot Jameson is in on, whether against Spider-Man or against a bigger villain than Mysterio, or maybe Beck is even helping Jameson out against one of his enemies. Or maybe they're just faking to mess with Spider-Man's head! Either way, I love them catching feelings and actually getting together, whether it means actually getting married by the end... or them just banging (with some feelings involved), that's good and hot too. Also, for the ruse, is Quentin faking being redeemed, is he actually redeemed, is Jameson faking a supervillain/criminal persona?

  • Forbidden Marriage - One Spouse Crossdresses To Get Around Ban On Gay Marriage
I don't even care that this doesn't make sense. I want to pretend it makes sense, damn it! This combines both my love of Beck's costumes and disguises (and him using them for good for a change!) and my love of the idea of Beck casually disguising himself as a woman and Jameson and unexpectedly finding him actually really damn hot. (I am also open to the trans headcanon of Beck being DMAB nonbinary for this tag, either "they" or still usually "he" or open to any pronouns, I just do not want him written as a trans woman or as DFAB if you do go with a trans headcanon for this prompt.)

  • Honeymoon - Finding A Way To Celebrate Marriage While In Hiding/On The Run
Is Beck still a supervillain or just plain criminal but Jameson decided to marry him anyway? Has Jameson become a supervillain as well? Has Beck redeemed but maybe has been framed or someone suspects him of something he didn't do or still has an enemy after him for some reason? (I'd prefer if said enemy wasn't Doctor Octopus, Chameleon, or the Tinkerer if so, but I'm good with most anyone else including OCs or just a handwavey mention to facilitate the story.) Their determination to celebrate despite the situation could be really sweet!

  • Proposal - During Crime Spree
  • Proposal - Elaborate or Creative Proposal
  • Proposal - Romantic
These are my absolute favorite of the proposal tags! For the crime spree proposal, I could see either proposing; is Beck still a criminal while Jameson is not but doesn't care, or has Jameson also come over to crime/supervillainy? Does one of them propose while a crime is being committed, or during down-time between crimes? For the elaborate or creative proposal, I could easily see Beck inclined to this one because WHAT A DRAMA QUEEN, but does Jameson propose this way because he knows Beck loves it? And for the romantic proposal, I can see Jameson leaning toward romance but honestly I think Beck's probably a big sap too and/or might do it because he knows Jameson would like it, so again, either works!

  • Wedding - Decoy Wedding To Ensure Real Wedding Goes Smoothly
Look, again, "decoy" was impossible to pass up with Beck involved. Did Beck hire actors? Did he use illusions or special effects or holograms or robots? I am just so amused by Beck going to these lengths whether it ends up being necessary or otherwise. I also laughed at the idea of Beck and Jameson having an affectionate wager as to whether or not anyone will even crash the decoy wedding (I'm just imagining Beck's "told you" and Jameson faux-grumbling and handing over ten bucks). Also, is it supervillain or mobster enemies, or is it Spider-Man thinking that Mysterio must for-sure be up to something? (I'm smiling at the idea of Parker sheepishly ending up at the real wedding realizing that Beck actually really does have feelings for Jameson and being like, okay, weird but good for them??? Kind of unknown and unofficial Spider-blessing!) (And once again, I'd prefer if the enemy who attacks isn't Doctor Octopus, Chameleon, or the Tinkerer.)

  • Wedding Ceremony - Improvised and Unofficial
Honestly, my favorite comics for these two are back from the sixties, and I don't at all mind when the story is set! If it takes place any time before 2011, gay marriage wouldn't have been legal and I am 100% fine with them having an unofficial wedding despite that. That "Fuck Whatever the Laws Say. We're Married" tag could just as easily apply here, too, only not poly! I am HERE FOR IT.

  • Wedding Night - Sexual Exploration
THIS IS JUST AN EXCUSE FOR PORN. These two could be hot as hell, feel free to work in any of my porn likes or check out my Smut 4 Smut letter for some specific ideas if you'd like! And with sexual exploration, does it mean they're trying new things, haven't gotten to have sex much, haven't had sex at all yet, have only had simple sex and are getting a little inventive/exploratory, or are just in general exploring a specific new thing one or both of them want to try? Go nuts with this one, I would just really love smut for these two!

  • Wedding Reception - Dancing
  • Wedding Reception - First Dance
I am a ridiculous sap and I just find my ship dancing with one another super, super romantic. I love it. The first dance tag would definitely need to be at their own wedding, but honestly I wouldn't even mind it if the general dancing one was at someone else's wedding, even if it's the moment when they realize they're really into one another, I just want them Dancing At Wedding and for it to be romantic!

Canon-Specific DNWs

  • Quentin Beck being written as a purposeful or unrepentant killer, delusional, or just in general "criminally insane" or as irredeemably evil
  • infidelity (just putting this here to specify to just... handwave Jonah not being married or engaged to or seeing anyone else during whatever time the story is set)
Canon-Specific Likes

  • nicknames! pet names! I could really enjoy Jonah and Quentin using kinda cheesy endearments for each other, tbh, like sweet, sweetheart, darling, once they actually become a thing...
  • if you're interested, I like trans headcanons for these characters, especially Quentin but you're welcome to do something with Jonah! anything works for either of them, nonbinary or trans man or trans woman, though Jonah having a son with his wife might mean he's not a trans man. and of course trans headcanons aren't obligatory!

Marvel 616
Otto Octavius/Peter Parker

Ohhh boy I can't even explain in short form how and why I love these two so much. They have thought they worst of each other, they have misunderstood each other, Doctor Octopus has tried to kill Spider-Man (definitely not the reverse). Doctor Octopus has swung between minimal violence, outright saving lives sometimes, and crossing lines that even he knows deep down he shouldn't cross; when saving Spider-Man's life (and those issues I highly recommend for "was this gay on purpose?" feels) he talks up Spider-Man's goodness and how he needs him as his foil at length.

And then eventually they get a much greater understanding of each other in the weirdest way, with Otto Octavius taking over Peter Parker's body, Peter Parker dying in Otto Octavius's body, but not before shoving all of his memories into Otto's head and a piece of his consciousness as well. They basically share a brain for a while! And then when that whole situation goes south, Otto comes back in another Peter Parker clone body eventually, with the real Peter as Spider-Man, and... Spidey actually grants him a clean slate and later even tells him that he's doing the hero thing right.

The way they have so much intense and complicated history really gets to me. Whether you decide to set the story at a point when they're complicated enemies or one where they're complicated allies. One where they're in their original bodies or one where they're both in Peter Parker bodies. There's honestly so much possibility with these two!

(Plus, alternately, if you go with the backstory specifically from Spider-Man/Doctor Octopus: Year One or take it as its own mini-canon, I am totally down for that because they have a, uh, very interesting relationship and Otto has a very specific personality and obsession with Spider-Man that I am HERE for.)

  • Accidental Engagement - Joke Marriage Proposal on TV Mistaken As Real by the Press
  • Newlyweds - Friends/Family/Fans/Foes React To Unexpected Or Contentious Marriage
Okay, look, for the first one can't you just imagine Spider-Man making some sort of quip about marriage and Jameson having the Bugle run with it? How would they react to that? It might be better if they had some sort of complicated feelings for one another already, but so long as they wind up with a shift in their relationship by the end I don't need it to lead to an actual proposal or anything. As for the newlyweds thing, I am just open to a story about how literally anyone or everyone responds to the idea -- Aunt May, Peter's friends, the people at the Bugle, Ock's (sort of) friends, Ock's enemies -- and how Peter and Otto deal with it. (I would prefer if you handwaved that May and Otto aren't exes if you go with this.)

  • Dimension Travel - Enemies or Just Friends Find Out They're Married In An Alternate Universe
I am so weak for things like this, tbh. Honestly, if you have a particular other version of canon in which you ship Spidey and Doc Ock, go ahead and use that universe as the one in which they're married! Or just make up an AU. (Or take the main comics canon and Year One as separate universes.) I don't mind if "our" Spidey and Doc Ock are straightforward enemies, frenemies, enemies but attracted, enemies but partway through catching feelings, or if it's set during bodysharing or while Otto's in a clone body and acting as a Spider-Man or if it's set after the last time we see him in canon when he walked away from being a hero but hasn't actually gone back to being a villain despite his words. So long as their relationship has changed in some way and they've gotten closer and shippy by the end I will be happy!

  • Engagement - Comfort and Promising to Do Better Than Dysfunctional Birth Family of Spouse(s)
  • Established Marriage - Decide to Adopt a Child Together
  • Wedding Planning - Discussing New Married Name
I couldn't resist it, so here, these are the straightforwardly sappy tags! Whether you set things at the most recent canon point, diverge really early on so they don't have as much bad blood, or set things in the Year One universe where they have very specific circumstances, personalities, and relationship to one another, I am good with you just assuming they've at least mostly worked things out, care about each other, and are really trying. For the engagement tag, obviously Otto would be the one who has the dysfunctional family (and Year One makes it clear that his family was VERY dysfunctional) and it could easily really bother him. For the established marriage tag, honestly, I chose that one because despite comics' repeated pregnancy plotlines, I could really imagine the idea of adopting meaning a lot to Peter after the way his Aunt May and Uncle Ben took him in and raised him. (I am also good with them adopting the normal way or finding an abandoned or orphaned baby!) Finally, for the wedding planning tag... feel free to deviate from this but I could easily believe that Peter has WAY more attachment to the Parker family name than Otto has to his own surname. I'm also good with them compromising by hyphenating their names, one keeping their old surname as their middle name (again, I feel like this would probably be Otto, but feel free to have it be Peter if the mood takes you!), or deciding to each keep their own after discussing it; the discussion is the key part for me. (I am also open to, if you use a trans headcanon for the fic, having Peter be a trans woman or nonbinary and keep Parker as her/their first name while taking Otto's surname, that'd work too!)

  • Engagement - Engaged in Secret
Honestly when I saw this I imagined that a secret engagement would probably mean that they definitely have major feelings for each other but that it might be somewhat complicated still to the point that they're not quite willing to come out with it to anyone else. What are they waiting on? Are they hoping one or the other will give in and quit their "job" and will make it easier to marry if they're no longer at odds? Do they feel guilty? Are they trying to avoid painting a target on their backs (or on May's)? Are they trying to figure out how to explain how Peter Parker got to know Otto Octavius and get that close to him? How long have they been engaged and how patient are they willing to be? I'd love for them to have decided to out with it by the end of the story or for a significant step to have been made otherwise; I will also admit I'm a sucker for villain redemption, so there's that! (If you go with Year One being its own canon, it'd even be reasonable to have the Doctor Octopus thing be a one-off; maybe it's a secret because Otto's still in Ravencroft? How did Peter even approach him/get to know him as Peter rather than Spider-Man?)

  • Marriage of Convenience - Marriage To Save Criminal from Other Punishment
  • Marriage of Convenience - Marrying to protect someone from danger
  • Marriage of Convenience - Marrying to Save a Life
  • Science Fiction - Hanahaki Disease Cured by Marriage
  • Soul Bond - Marriage Is The Only Cure For Fatal Soul Bond
  • Soul Bond - Soul Bond Required to Save One Partner's Life
Hahaha okay these are the "this is totally AU/not even a little how canon works but I don't care" tags! These are ALSO "Peter Parker absolutely would" tags, though obviously canon sometimes makes Ock very invested in Spidey and/or keeping him alive... For all three marriage of convenience ones, honestly, I was imagining the "someone" who is in danger to be Doctor Octopus rather than him threatening anyone, I just feel like the common thread with these tags is that Spidey is not going to let anyone die including an enemy. (And I could especially see the first for Year One, where I think Peter honestly feels for Otto.) For the hanahaki disease plot, I'd rather a surgical cure not exist, so it's marriage or death (though I'm fine with the pined-for person's death curing the pining person and just neither of them being willing to do it); I also prefer the straightforward version where the person pining is the one coughing up the flowers, and it makes the most sense IMO for Otto to be the one initially pining; if you go with Peter pining instead I'd be fine with you using "reverse hanahaki" where the pined-for person is the one coughing up the flowers! As for the soul bond prompts, for the former, how did the soul bond even happen? What caused it? Are they common in the universe or (practically or totally) unheard of? For the latter, are soul bonds known/common, do soul bonds automatically count as being married? For any of these tags, I am fine with them having complicated feelings for each other, I just don't want either of them to strongly resent the other for the position they're in. Otherwise, just have fun with these and don't kill either of them and I will LOVE IT.

  • Proposal - Blurting Out Proposal Unplanned
  • Proposal - During Battle
  • Proposal - Mid-Battle Proposal
The various proposal options I like best! The battle ones are the most straightforward; I'm really amused by the idea of them having reached a complicated enough relationship that they can be fighting each other and still have one feel like it's totally reasonable to propose, not only in general but DURING THE BATTLE. But I am also totally there for them being allies (maybe while they're both acting as Spider-Man, maybe not) or "frenemies" in the sense that they still fight each other but also find themselves teaming up against mutual enemies more often than they might have expected and the battle being against a third party and one of them just deciding that's a fine time to propose. I'm imagining them having a whole discussion during the battle, whether the one being proposed to is like "what?" or casual about it or if they need to be talked into it (or talked into the other meaning it) or just agree. Or maybe it's a "?!" moment in the battle itself and they have to talk it out later because really, what. And as for blurting out the proposal unplanned... Well, this could take place in any scenario and I'm equally amused by whether "unplanned" means he wasn't planning to ask like that/at that time or whether it hadn't even occurred to him that he wanted to ask until that very moment and he just immediately did so, but let's be real, Spidey is the impulsive one who runs his mouth off, so while the battle proposal could come from either of them, I have a feeling the blurted out one specifically (whether in battle or not) would come from Peter.

  • Wedding - Decoy Wedding To Ensure Real Wedding Goes Smoothly
  • Wedding - Fake Wedding To Bait Criminals and/or Enemies
  • Wedding Ceremony - Interrupted by a Battle and They Continue When It's Finished
Whether or not anyone knows Peter Parker is Spider-Man, Dr. Octavius definitely has enemies, so I am THERE for them taking precautions about that and/or them just getting attacked and dealing with it. (Peter having to sneak off to change into Spider-Man at his own wedding so he can help fight the bad guys is funny to me. I'd just prefer you didn't use Mysterio, Vulture, Chameleon, or the Tinkerer, but anyone else goes.) As for the fake wedding, well, that could be the same as the decoy wedding with them actually being engaged/about to get married/the real ceremony being elsewhere, but it could also just be entirely a ruse if you felt like it! Maybe Spidey and Doc Ock are on cautiously good enough terms for Peter to agree to help him with this; so long as they wind up closer and shippy by the end, I'm fine with it!

  • Wedding Night - Sexual Exploration
THIS TAG IS AN EXCUSE FOR PORN. Please go wild with it, I find these two really hot! I would love for you to include anyting in my list of porn likes, and if you want you can take a look at my Smut 4 Smut letter for more ideas!

Canon-Specific DNWs

  • Doctor Octopus being presented as irredeemably crazy/evil
  • permanent character death of any canon characters
  • focus on infidelity (preference is for handwaving Peter not dating anyone, or open relationship stuff, but I know Peter's usually dating Mary Jane/sometimes Black Cat/sometimes someone else so I just don't want focus on cheating)
  • I know I'm adding this belatedly so no foul if you miss it, but I'd honestly prefer handwaving away/decanonizing or just not mentioning the whole "May and Otto are exes/were once going to get married themselves" thing!
Canon-Specific Likes

  • nicknames! pet names! I like it when things someone is called in anger or to annoy them at first shift over to being totally normal and then even endearments over time, like Doctor Octopus calling Spider-Man "wall-crawler" or "web-slinger/web-spinner" or "arachnid", or Spider-Man calling Doctor Octopus "Doc," "Ock," or "Doc Ock", but I am also super into exploring moments when maybe one calls the other by their real name, whether "Parker" or "Peter," whether "Dr. Octavius" or "Otto"; is it a threat or is it an appeal or is it intimate?
  • if you're interested, I like trans headcanons for these characters! I can especially see nonbinary Doctor Octopus but trans man and trans woman both totally work for me for different reasons as well; I especially enjoy trans woman or nonbinary Spidey but trans man is also totally acceptable. and of course trans headcanons aren't obligatory!

She-Ra and the Princesses of Power (2018)
Baker/Busgirl/Soda Pop

These three made me incredibly happy the moment they came onscreen, honestly, and despite their lack of screen time they continued to delight me every time I spotted them. They're always a unit! They work in the kitchen together, they hide from the robots together, they go into battle together whenever necessary and fight well as a team, they attend Glimmer's coronation together, they all move to Bright Moon together after Entrapta disappears/Dryll is taken by the Horde... They're all adorable and I love the little journey they go on getting more confident and learning how to fight and stick up for themselves. They all start off meek in some ways and develop this playful confidence that's really fun!

That also means they're fairly similar in personality in a way that I feel makes sense that they get along so well and stick together so much. They have a lot in common, but they have some differences too, with their specialities being distinct but working very well together -- both as kitchen staff (skilled making food, skilled choosing/providing beverages, skilled at cleaning and upkeep) and in fights. They seem to take strength in each other and support one another with both their similarities and differences and I love that! I could absolutely see them as already a thing or developing into a thing, so I hope you could have a lot of fun playing with this particular ship.

Requested Tags

  • Anniversary - 1st Year
  • Established Marriage - Bringing Breakfast to Sick Spouse in Bed
  • Established Marriage - Decide to Adopt a Pet Together
  • Established Marriage - Happy and Domestic
These are the cute established relationship tags! I feel like you could easily set the fic pre-canon, at some point during canon, or post-canon, except the pet one maybe working best post-canon. How do they celebrate their wedding anniversary? Do they try to do the things they're best at to show they care (Baker baking/cooking something nice, Busgirl performing little acts of service to show she cares, Soda Pop providing wine/champagne?), or do they all agree that none of them should have to do any work that particular day? Do they get each other little gifts (and are any paper-related?) or do they just spend some quality time together? For the sick spouse tag, I'm fine with any one of them being sick and the other two working together to make the sick one breakfast, or with two of them being sick and the third making breakfast for them both! For adopting a pet, any kind of pet would be great... and for happy and domestic, I'd honestly just love to read something with them being affectionate and sweet. I am DOWN for curtainfic with these three, haha.

  • Established Marriage - Married Couple Both Pine for the Same Third Person
  • Poly Marriage - Figuring Out New Routine/Moving Into Each Others Space
  • Poly Marriage - Treated as Normal In-Universe
  • Wedding - Third Person in Newly Poly Relationship Symbolically Added to Official Marriage
These are the poly-specific tags! For the established marriage tag and the wedding tag, I don't mind which of the three is the initial married couple and which is the third, so long as they all wind up together in the end... For the first of the poly marriage tags, I just really love that domestic and intimate feeling of people getting used to sharing a space and their days together, and I feel like this could make sense if it's pre-canon but even if it's during or post-canon if they're all used to mostly just working in the kitchen together and otherwise having their own rooms. And for the second poly marriage tag, well, I can just imagine poly marriages being as casually normal in the She-Ra universe as gay marriages, frankly. That tag could really be added to any prompt.

  • Proposal - During Battle
  • Proposal - Mid-Battle Proposal
  • Proposal - Proposing at the Same Time
  • Proposal - Proposing on a Whim
ALL THE PROPOSAL POSSIBILITIES. For the battle-related ones, honestly, I was kind of imagining it happening during that fight we get a glimpse of them in during the finale of the show! But you can feel free to play around with it. The idea of two or all three of them trying to propose at the same time is really, really cute to me and kind of shows how they all gel well together. It also goes well with proposing on a whim (all three of them having the same impulsive idea!), but either of those tags could also work well by themselves, of course. One of them proposing to the other two on a whim because it just suddenly feels really right is also really sweet!

  • Wedding - Blended Traditions
  • Wedding - Poly Traditions
  • Wedding - Small and Simple
These tags are for the different kinds of weddings, and I'm really intrigued by them all! For blended traditions, I'd love to see a mix of traditions both when it comes to race and when it comes to species, since not only is Busgirl black but Soda Pop also seems to be an elf? Or they could each have specific family traditions that are important to them! I'd love to see what sort of poly wedding traditions you come up with for Etheria, as well... And as for small and simple, well, I could easily see them having a cozy wedding that they don't invite a whole ton of people to!

  • Wedding Night - Sexual Exploration
This tag's just the excuse for smut, okay? I would absolutely love to read porn about these characters, especially if you work in any of my porn likes! And since it's sexual exploration, maybe they haven't had sex before, or haven't had a chance/the energy to have sex often, or have only had simple sex and are getting a little inventive/exploratory, or haven't all three had sex at the same time, or one of them hasn't had sex with the other two, etc...

  • Wedding Planning - Cake and Wine Tasting
  • Wedding Planning - Menu Tasting
  • Wedding Reception - Food with Special Meaning to Wedding Party
Look, with Soda Pop and especially Baker as part of this ship, I had to! Is Baker making the food (or at least the baked goods including wedding cake) for the reception or is she outsourcing it so she doesn't have to do all that work? Or is she initially going to outsource it but is sad at the thought of not doing it herself and decides not to? Is Soda Pop providing the wine/champagne? As for food with special meaning to the wedding party, is it special because Baker made it, or does Baker maybe make specific things she knows Busgirl and Soda Pop love? Go crazy with this, I feel like these tags could be incredibly cute!

  • Wedding Reception - Catching the Bouquet
I just find this incredibly sweet tbqh. Whoever catches the bouquet is gonna get married next! Which one of them catches it? Were they even trying to catch it or was it a total accident/coincidence? Were they already together but hadn't talked about marriage, or had they discussed it even a little at any point, or are they all/any of them still not quite together at all? How do they react, are they pleased, flustered? Do they talk about it afterwards?

Canon-Specific DNWs

  • Entrapta/Hordak
Canon-Specific Likes

  • noncanon background pairings I actually enjoy if they happen to come up: Entrapta/Scorpia, Entrapta/Wrong Hordak, Perfuma/Huntara, Adora/Catra/Glimmer/Bow
  • NAMING CONVENTIONS and names in general actually? these characters don't really have names, so feel free to come up with names for them! do they ever use nicknames or endearments for one another at any point, or do they ever switch from a surname to a first name basis (if they have surnames), or do they just use one another's names? feel free to play around with this, i love this stuff!
  • if you're interested, I like trans headcanons for these characters! I like the idea of Busgirl as nonbinary, actually, rather than a girl (or a demigirl maybe?), but trans girl would also be cool. Baker I could see being a trans woman, but nonbinary would also be acceptable, and anything goes for Soda Pop. for other characters, just keep the canon pronouns the same and go with whatever -- except for Wrong Hordak, who I'd be happy to see as nonbinary or a trans girl. and of course trans headcanons aren't obligatory!

Sofia the First
Baileywick/Cedric the Sorcerer

These two both work for King Roland at Enchancia's castle, of course, but their circumstances are different in really interesting ways to me! Baileywick seems to have worked for the family for a long, long time, and seems married to his work, never taking a break and being on top of keeping everything running. He's the Castle Steward and is in charge of all the rest of the servants, but he's also a servant himself and completely aware of it, and doesn't at all mind it. Cedric's father worked for the family for a long, long time, and he feels like he's in his father's shadow, and he also seems to be working all the time but isn't happy to be constantly on call, especially for things he thinks are beneath his position, such as babysitting. He's the Royal Sorcerer yet has absolutely no one beneath him to delegate to, and is very aware of his position and does seem to mind it, at least since everyone thinks of him as a failure. There's that, too; Cedric has a cloud hanging over him from his childhood, one that isn't actually his fault, and his nervousness about messing up makes him mess up worse, and people think he's a shit sorcerer and laugh at him or roll their eyes or dismiss him. Baileywick, however, is incredibly smooth and effective at what he does and can seem almost, well, magic with how efficient and helpful he can be, and is one of the most well-respected people at the castle.

One of the things that really interests me with these two is perception. While Baileywick teases Cedric once or twice about being bad at magic, he doesn't seem to dislike the man and likely doesn't realize how personally Cedric takes such cracks, because Cedric does take everything like that exceedingly personally. Baileywick seemed to be being friendly right before Cedric froze him on his way to take over the kingdom, and afterwards he only gave Cedric a few suspicious looks before he proved himself. And Cedric for his part doesn't seem to resent Baileywick, but feels isolated and looked down on enough that he considers Sofia his first and only friend, and doesn't feel that anyone ever supported him. Overall I doubt the two of them thought too much about one another for most of their careers, and had a few misunderstandings when they did exchange words but didn't think too badly of each other overall, so I can imagine them warming up to each other Also I'd like to note that I love how both of them are better with children than one might expect! (Well, Cedric anyway) Baileywick becomes a Buttercup Guide and helps out with the troop on occasion, as well as helping out with the kids around the castle generally, and Cedric is Sofia's teacher as well as occasionally begrudgingly entertaining/babysitting the castle childen in general, as well as his short stint as a substitute teacher at Royal Prep, which he ended up actually enjoying. I also like that by the final episode, Cedric seems incredibly confident in himself, and both steps in to help Baileywick with decorating and Baileywick compliments him in return!

Requested Tags

  • Established Marriage - Decide to Adopt a Pet Together
Okay, I could not resist this tag. What happened with Wormwood made me sad, and now Cedric doesn't have a familiar anymore! It'd be really sweet if they decided to get a pet, whether it acted as a new familiar or not, I was just drawn to this tag due to the Wormwood thing. Maybe Baileywick is even in part trying to help Cedric feel better, though that's not necessary. Just! Cute animal!

  • Historical - Court Reaction to Unexpected Marriage
All right, so this is fantasy, not historical, but still! I love the idea of this tag, and I don't mind if the reaction is to the marriage itself or to the proposal, engagement, etc. How would King Roland react? Queen Miranda? The kids? The rest of the castle staff? I'd love to see how Baileywick and/or Cedric interact with any of these people and what they'd think or say!

  • Magic - Artifact Chooses Spouse
  • Magic - Artifact or Spell Accidentally Causes Marriage
  • Magic - Not Sure If Marriage Under Magical Circumstances Counts
  • Magic - Prophetic Matchmaker Chooses Who Marries Who
  • Magic - Spell Gone Wrong Results in Marriage
  • Magic - True Love's Kiss Automatically Becomes A Binding Marriage
  • Magic - Truth Spell Results in Accidental Proposal
These magic tags basically come down to magic somehow causing the marriage! For the two artifact ones, how does it do either of these things? Is it well known that this is a thing it does? With the choosing spouse one is it an accident, or does one of them ask it on purpose, or does a third party? With "causes marriage" was it meant to do something else instead? If it's a spell that accidentally causes or results in marriage, how does it do it, who cast it, and what was it meant to do? For any of the above I can see after the fact one or both of them wondering if it "counts," or you can come up with other magical circumstances that muddy the waters! For the prophetic matchmaker, is this someone who's at all known or a totally unheard of person, and do they have good or bad intentions? For true love's kiss, is it a common/known thing that that's how it works, and how does it bind them as married? Does it come as a total surprise? Finally, for the truth spell, I do not mind who cast the spell or who's under the spell, so long as Cedric didn't purposefully cast a truth spell on Baileywick. Either way, I don't mind who proposes, I just adore the idea of a totally unexpected proposal. Did the person who proposes even consciously know they wanted it?

  • Magic - Magical Abilities are Shared after Marriage
  • Magic - Marriage Allows Spouses To Share Magical Powers
More magic stuff! These two aren't about magic causing marriage but rather marriage giving Baileywick some inherent magical ability. He's so good at so many things that I kind of love the idea of him being a little out of his depth with this sort of thing! He once sort of joked about Cedric's ability to be a magic teacher, so Cedric helping him figure out a little magic could actually be really nice and show how their relationship (and Cedric's confidence) has developed. I'm honestly just a sucker for this whole concept, so have some fun with this one!

  • Magic - Wedding Location Chosen for Magical Properties
Okay, look, this one's just cute. I love Enchancia worldbuilding, so please have fun coming up with a magical wedding destination! Which one of them chooses it? Is it somewhere Baileywick's wanted to go, is it someplace Cedric's excited about because it's famous among sorcerers, does one of them choose it for the other's sake for some property it has?

  • Magic - Wedding Rings in Shared Dreams of Unmarried Pair Reveal Pining
I am an absolute sucker for this tag. Feel free to come up with some reason for why they're sharing dreams! A spell gone wrong? A sleeping curse cast on the entire castle from the outside? Is the wedding ring dream symbolism and meaning widely known or only well known among magic-users? Are they both pining for each other or is one pining for the other? Do the rings only show up if it is mutual?

  • Soul Bond - Accidental/Unexpected Soulbond
  • Soul Bond - Dancing At Friend's Wedding Leads To Unexpected Soul Bond
SOUL BOND TAGS. I imagine soul bonds have something to do with magic in Enchancia! Are they at all well known or are they incredibly rare, or is this even a totally unique occurrance? Is it maybe even something done to them by someone else? Feel free to come up with some situation that leads to the soul bond; if you do go with the dancing at wedding one, does it happen to only them or more than one dancing pair, are romantic feelings at all necessary for it to happen (whether they know that at first or not), is it because the wedding is taking place at a magical locale? (Feel free to handwave whoever's getting married, too; rather than a mutual friend I'd also accept it being some wedding at court either in Enchancia or at another kingdom.) (Also let me just say I love when my ship dances together and also Cedric dancing is kinda hot...)

  • Wedding - Ostentatious Royal Wedding
  • Wedding - Small and Simple
THE TWO GENDERS TYPES OF WEDDING. Very much opposites, but honestly, I can see either! I could easily see both of them preferring a smaller, simpler wedding with only their families and the people they care most about invited. I could also see either of their families (let's be real, especially Cedric's) or the royal family finding out they're getting married and deciding it has to be a BIG THING. Even if it's not their preference, maybe they're touched by it. Or maybe it's gearing up to be made into a big ostentatious wedding and then they explain they just want something simple and everyone listens and they get a smaller wedding, or something in the middle. Whatever you do with this, I feel like it could be real cute.

  • Wedding Ceremony - Children Important To Those Getting Married Are Involved
I'll be real, I mean Sofia, because I really do love her relationships with both Baileywick and Cedric. But there's also Amber and James! I think it'd be really sweet if the kids all got to play some role in the ceremony... Two flower girls and a ring bearer? A flower girl, a ring bearer, and an usher?

  • Wedding Reception - First Dance
I'm really just a huge romantic and absolutely love when my ship dances together. First dance at their wedding is just too good to resist! As I said above, Cedric's dancing is also kind of hot. He does a few little his sways in his "Cedric the Great" song that I love, okay. I can also imagine that Baileywick's had formal dancing lessons... And I do wonder if Hexley Hall has any unique dances? But just in general I love the idea of these two dancing together and would love whatever you do!

  • Wedding Reception - Interrupted by Canon-Typical Shenanigans
I would honestly be down for whatever you decide to do for this one! Canon-typical shenanigans are often (though not always) cute. Does some outsider need help? Does some ne'er-do-well make trouble? Does Sofia need to save the day? Does Cedric help save his own wedding? There's so much that could be done here and whether it's silly or somewhat serious it could all be fun!

Canon-Specific DNWs

  • story focusing on the idea that Cedric is a screw-up
Canon-Specific Likes

  • worldbuilding and exploration in general, especially of the different flora and fauna and magic stuff
  • villain redemption
  • the characters' relationships with Sofia (if she's mentioned or appears)
  • characters who don't know magic learning a little magic or using those single-spell wands
  • characters working through complicated relationships and realizing they're both Very Fond
  • if you're interested, I like trans headcanons for these characters! I'm especially intrigued by the idea of Cedric being a trans women, but trans man or nonbinary interpretations are also welcome; for Baileywick or any other characters anything works! and of course trans headcanons aren't obligatory!

The Spectacular Spider-Man (Cartoon)
Adrian Toomes/Otto Octavius

I am just WAY TOO INVESTED in these ridiculous theatrical supervillains being pre-supervillain friends who are now loyal and in love while trying to take over the world/take murderous revenge!

While the first episode introduces both characters with Adrian furious at Otto, it makes sense, since they seem to have been close before (the photo on Otto's wall in the Doctor Octopus origin episode!) and Adrian was probably feeling hurt/betrayed. The rest of their dynamic is so far from what one might expect from that first impression that it's insane! Reunited as cellmates, Vulture helping Doc Ock with a big jailbreak, not just working together in the Sinister Six but Vulture ceding his desire to take vengeance on Osborn to follow Ock's plan to take out Spider-Man first... And they just never work apart again? Adrian is one of only three people to find out the Master Planner's true identity, part of his inner circle! When Ock tests out the technology meant to allow him to hack into every single electrical device in the city, he does so by trying to kill Norman Osborn, seemingly for Adrian's sake, and despite revenge being Vulture's driving motivation Adrian is totally fine about it not working. When Otto tries to credit him Phineas Mason and for doing brilliant work assembling the technology, Adrian immediately demurs the compliment and turns it back around on him: "The brainwork was all yours, Otto." For a grouchy old man, he smiles a lot around Otto, too!

And even after the Master Planner's master plan is defeated and literally every other member of the Sinister Six seems to go their separate ways and do their own things, Vulture just stays with Doctor Octopus, seemingly acting as bodyguard for the auction, for the Valentine's Day summit (where they also dress up fancy and hot)... There are also just these cute little touches I love, like how in the first Sinister Six fight when Spider-Man jumps on the Vulture's back you can see the back of Doctor Octopus's head tracking them, and a few moments later Otto is the one to pull Spider-Man off Adrian's back. And when Doctor Octopus puts a tentacle on everyone's shoulders in the Sinister Six ep to ease them back down into their chairs, it looks like his tentacle is on Adrian's back instead of his shoulder. And when Hammerhead shoots at Adrian at the summit and knocks him unconscious, Otto's cry of "TREACHERY!" is fuckin pissed and he just has no patience for Tombstone in that fight after. I love how Ock seems to honestly care about his team and make an effort to make them happy, and how Vulture is perfectly willing to put his own goals on the backburner in a way that feels very "I am helping this man take over the world because he wants to and he deserves to get whatever he wants, fuck you." I love seeing these supervillains have huge soft spots, in general and especially for each other!

TL;DR they married, ty for reading my villain shipping Ted Talk.

  • Anniversary - Planning a Special Night
  • Established Marriage - Happy and Domestic
I love these two so much and I would love to see just some straightforward romantic and/or domestic established marriage stuff with them! I love the idea that despite everything they can be incredibly sappy and loving with one another, I am HERE for that. I could see Otto doing the planning (the Master Planner, after all) or Adrian wanting Otto not to have to do all the planning, either way could work really well and be sweet! I don't have many specific ideas for this stuff, I am just so into the idea and would love anything you give me... Literally the only thing I can think of is that them in suits during the opera episode was incredibly hot so maybe a "special night" involves them trying that again only alone this time and without it turning into pitched combat? But go with anything and I will be happy!

  • Forbidden Marriage - Considering Themselves Married Even If In The Eyes Of The Law They're Not
  • Forbidden Marriage - Married In Every Way Except Legally
  • Forbidden Marriage - Symbolic Marriage Ceremony Because Legal Marriage Is Not Permitted
Given that the series takes place in 2008-2009, gay marriage would have still been illegal, and one great thing about villains and criminals is fuck the law. I love these two just being like, yeah, it's not legal, but we're not especially bothered about what's legal and we're still going to get married/just going to consider ourselves married whether it's officially approved or not. For the first tag I could really love them deciding to just get rings and go "okay, we're married"; for the second rings would still be great but even those aren't necessary, they could even just acknowledge that while they're not actually married they basically are, whether or not they even decide to refer to themselves as married after or call each other husbands or anything; for the third tbqh I'd love for a symbolic ceremony with the other Sinister Six as the guests, that is honestly really endearing to me, and since it's not actually legal literally any one of them could act as the officiant. (Phineas Mason or Quentin Beck might be the most fitting; I bet Beck especially would get all dressed up for it. I could see Electro being totally willing to but he'd probably cry. Kraven could also be endearing!)

  • Honeymoon - Finding A Way To Celebrate Marriage While In Hiding/On The Run
  • Honeymoon - Villains Attack
THEY GOT ENEMIES. Sometimes those enemies might interfere with a nice honeymoon! For the first tag, they might even just be in hiding from the police and/or Spider-Man due to being wanted criminals, tbqh; how might they celebrate otherwise, would they stay in their hideout or stealthily go somewhere else, even find a way to travel while keeping a low profile? For either tag, you could use a lot of villains; the most fitting might be Tombstone deciding to finally take out some of the competition (whether personally or sending the Enforcers), the Green Goblin reappearing, or Venom holding a grudge over Otto's threat to remove and study Spider-Man's suit during the first Sinister Six episode (even though Ock'd had no idea it was a symbiote), but maybe Roderick Kingsley finally becomes the Hobgoblin?

  • Marriage - Married mid-crime spree
It doesn't even have to be a really obvious crime spree, though it can be! I just love the idea of things going well for the Sinister Six and one of Otto's plans proceeding very well and he and Adrian just... celebrating with marriage. It's weirdly endearing. Feel free to combine this with some of the other wedding tags (I'm thinking the symbolic marriage ceremony, improvised and unofficial ceremony, small and simple wedding, or even first dance ones), but you obviously don't have to!

  • Marriage - Regularly Being Mistaken as a Married Couple Leads to Real Marriage
I just love this one. Are they together but not actually married (feel free to handwave that gay marriage is legal no matter what year it is or bump the time forward a couple years), do they both know they're in love but aren't actually together yet, are they so utterly comfortable with each other that it somehow hasn't even occurred to them that this is a romantic thing because they almost take it for granted? I sincerely love the idea of multiple people assuming they're married and after a few times of that both of them just being like "...huh, we kind of are, aren't we?/am I in love with you?/should we be?"

  • Marrying for Love - Getting Married Moment Gay Marriage is Legalised
Feel free to just have it be legalized a bit earlier in-universe than it was IRL or have the story take place like... not quite two and a half years after the end of the series! I just find this incredibly romantic tbh. How long have they been basically willing to get married if not for the fact that it wasn't legal? Does it go all the way back to when they worked together at Tri Corp, or is it more recent? I would love to get an idea for their history, how long each of them has had feelings, how long they've been together, if they'd discussed marriage before it suddenly became a real possibility, etc.

  • Proposal - During Battle
  • Proposal - Mid-Battle Proposal
  • Proposal - Proposing on a Whim
The first two are basically the same tag, admittedly, but I just love the whole idea of these two being a freaking amazing battle couple and just one of them proposing in the middle of it and the other easily agreeing whether or not it catches him off guard! I am a sucker for that concept, holy shit. As for proposing on a whim, that wouldn't need to happen in battle (though it could), it could also just be a culmination of feelings that whoever proposes hadn't even been planning on but suddenly feels right and he very much wants it. It could be in battle or over breakfast or in the middle of discussing criminal plans or while they're lying in bed together or after a jailbreak, or hell, in their shared jail cell before they break out in the Sinister Six episode! I'd love it no matter the circumstances!

  • Wedding - Decoy Wedding To Ensure Real Wedding Goes Smoothly
  • Wedding - Fake Wedding To Bait Criminals and/or Enemies
  • Wedding Ceremony - Interrupted by a Battle and They Continue When It's Finished
They definitely have enemies and I am THERE for them taking precautions about that and/or them just getting attacked and dealing with it! For the fake wedding, I imagine the fact that they are getting/going to get married isn't fake, so it's pretty similar to the decoy wedding tag for me. For those tags I can see them enlisting Mysterio, Tinkerer, maybe even Chameleon for help with the ruse! "Enemies" could even involve the cops trying to show up to arrest them (though I can see Spidey not wanting to interrupt an actual wedding, sheesh!), but see the honeymoon tags for ideas on what villains might try to wreck their shit!

  • Wedding - Small and Simple
  • Wedding Ceremony - Improvised and Unofficial
  • Wedding Reception - First Dance
Various types of weddings! Since they're wanted criminals and neither of them seem to have living families (or at least not ones they get along with) I can very easily see only the other Sinister Six being invited, maybe with vetted people like Chameleon or Calypso being allowed to be there. For improvised and unofficial, I'll repeat something I said above: "I'd love for a symbolic ceremony with the other Sinister Six as the guests, that is honestly really endearing to me, and since it's not actually legal literally any one of them could act as the officiant. (Phineas Mason or Quentin Beck might be the most fitting; I bet Beck especially would get all dressed up for it. I could see Electro being totally willing to but he'd probably cry. Kraven could also be endearing!)" And for the first dance... I am a huge, huge sap and I find my ship dancing with each other to be super romantic and the first dance at their wedding is EVEN MORE SO. Give me all of the sap.

  • Wedding Night - Sexual Exploration
THIS TAG IS AN EXCUSE FOR PORN. Please go wild with it, I really do find these two incredibly hot and sweet! I would love for you to include anyting in my list of porn likes, and if you want you can take a look at my Smut 4 Smut letter for more ideas! And with sexual exploration, does it mean they're trying new things, haven't gotten to have sex much, haven't actually had sex at all yet for whatever reason, have only had simple sex and are getting a little inventive/exploratory, or are just in general exploring a specific new thing one or both of them want to try? Go nuts with this one, I would just really love smut for these two!

Canon-Specific DNWs

  • any of the Sinister Six, especially these two specifically, being presented as irredeemably crazy/evil
  • either character betraying the other
  • honestly, any of the Sinister Six betraying each other (Shocker not included, he's an Enforcer first and foremost, he was just on loan)
  • Electro being referred to as anything other than Electro if he shows up/is mentioned
Canon-Specific Likes

  • noncanon background pairings I actually enjoy if they happen to come up: Mysterio/Tinkerer(/Chameleon), Sandman/Rhino
  • Otto/Adrian/Electro is noncanon poly I would be totally okay with, so long as Otto and Adrian have heavy focus; obviously this is not necessary
  • generally I like Sinister Six poly even if it's not the focus, actually, if the rest of the Sinister Six are included, I just really want Otto and Adrian to be heavily focused on!
  • NICKNAMES/PET NAMES, and honestly, I count how Otto and Adrian always seem to address each other by their first names; I also like, if you include him in the fic at all, the way Electro always calls Otto "Doc" and seems to call Adrian "Vulch" and they are both totally open to being called those things from him!
  • if you're interested, I like trans headcanons for either/both of these characters; for both of them I'm happy with anything, nonbinary or trans man or trans woman. trans headcanons for any other Sinister Six if they show up are also 100% good; I would prefer Electro as a trans woman or nonbinary if you write that character as trans, but anything goes for all the rest of them! and of course trans headcanons aren't obligatory!

The Spectacular Spider-Man (Cartoon)
Adrian Toomes/Max Dillon/Otto Octavius

SO TAKE THE ABOVE AND ADD ELECTRO.

The thing is, I really love Electro's dynamics with both Ock and Vulture. They're more substantial with "the Doc," of course, with Electro in his own words practically worshipping him. Otto was the only person who wrote to him in Ravencroft, and Electro quickly and fully just dedicated himself to him and fully believes in his abilities, plans, and overall genius. Also, when Ock was pretending to have "reverted" to Otto Octavius and cringe from his time as a supervillain, Electro seemed disgusted and willing to turn his back on him; I could actually like the interpretation that he's not blindly devoted no matter what Ock does and that was an honest reaction, but apparently Greg Weisman said in an interview that Ock had told Electro his plans and Electro was acting, and I also really like Otto trusting him with that! And he and Adrian are actually two-thirds of Otto's most trusted inner circle, along with Phineas Mason.

I really do like what little we get to see of Electro's dynamic with Vulture, too, though. Electro can be way too impulsive so sometimes they don't work as well together as they'd like -- see in "Reinforcement" when Electro accidentally shocks Vulture and knocks the Christmas tree onto him -- but they worked well together up to that point and were well-coordinated when kidnapping Gwen Stacy in the very next episode. More than that, I'm incredibly charmed that Electro apparently calls Vulture "Vulch" and that Adrian is just 100% fine with that little nickname! It's very cute.

Basically, while it would be easy to posit a V-shaped relationship with Doctor Octopus as the middle point, I am super into all three of them trusting, liking, and being dedicated (and attracted) to each other. It's nice!

  • Anniversary - Planning a Special Night
I am willing to just be totally sappy for these three; like I said above, I love that they really do all seem to like each other a lot and I could see them being very close and affectionate and romantic! I could see Otto doing the planning, but I could also see Adrian or Electro wanting to make it so Otto doesn't have to plan everything, or just all of them planning various different things (maybe even coordinated to different parts of the day so they don't interfere with each other). It could also be sweet if the special night also included some elements of normalcy since Electro is so bothered by his powers and probably misses it. Just have fun with these three supervillains being incredibly sappy and loving with one another, I am HERE for that.

  • Forbidden Marriage - Married In Every Way Except Legally
  • Forbidden Marriage - Symbolic Marriage Ceremony Because Legal Marriage Is Not Permitted
  • Poly Marriage - Fuck Whatever the Laws Say. We're Married
Given that the series takes place in 2008-2009, gay marriage would have still been illegal, and even if gay marriage is legal in the fic (either due to handwave or setting the fic later), marriages between more than two people aren't, so they'd have to deal with that. But one great thing about villains is fuck the law. I love these three being like, yeah, it's not legal, but we're not especially bothered about what's legal and we're still going to get married/just going to consider ourselves married whether it's officially approved or not. Does it bother Electro any or is the fact that they're marrying unofficially just as good to him? For the first and fourth tags I could really love them deciding to just get rings and go "okay, we're married"; for the second rings would still be great but even those aren't necessary, they could even just acknowledge that while they're not actually married they basically are, whether or not they even decide to refer to themselves as married after or call one another husbands or anything; for the third tbqh I'd love for a symbolic ceremony with the other Sinister Six as the guests, that is honestly really endearing to me, and since it's not actually legal literally any one of them could act as the officiant. • Marriage Laws - Marriage Requires Three People; Couple Must Find a Third
This is just a straight-up AU tag and I am here for it! Given that Otto and Adrian knew one another for at least a few years before the start of canon, it'd make sense if they're the couple who'd be happy to get married except they need a third; are they even actively looking? Either way, meeting and falling for Electro would be a happy accident! Also, if Otto and Adrian have had marriage at least as a possibility on their minds for a little while, how long does it take them to agree that they do in fact want to marry Electro as well? Is it a quick decision or do they take a while to make sure?

  • Poly Marriage - New Third in Marriage Mistakenly Believes Only One of the Others Wants Them
  • Wedding - Third Person in Newly Poly Relationship Symbolically Added to Official Marriage
Just like the above, I think it makes the most sense for Otto and Adrian to be the established couple; you can handwave when they got married or cover that part as well if you want! For the first, I can easily see Electro not realizing at first that Adrian is also more than fond of him and willing/happy to share Otto with him; after his accident Doctor Octopus seems more able and willing to express himself, not just anger but also affection, and Vulture seems like he's probably overall more reserved until he gets really close with someone. For the second, I really love the idea that even though poly marriages aren't legal Otto and Adrian would still be like "fuck that, you can also be a part of this marriage. See the section with the forbidden marriage tags for more ideas there!

  • Proposal - During Battle
  • Proposal - Mid-Battle Proposal
These are basically the same tag, admittedly, but I just love the whole idea of these three learning to work super well together in battle and then one of them just... proposing in the middle of it! • Wedding Night - BDSM
  • Wedding Night - Sexual Exploration
THESE TAGS ARE AN EXCUSE FOR PORN. Please go wild with it, I really do find these three incredibly hot and sweet! I would love for you to include anyting in my list of porn likes; to quote some specific ideas from a previous letter, "Threeways are obvious, one watching or (lbr, if Otto) even orchestrating the other two, two showing off for one who's not allowed to touch... perverting those metal arms (they are basically tentacles), slight electric play if Electro has more control over his powers, clothed sex at least on Electro's part if he doesn't... I love sappy sex, loving affectionate first time stuff, loving BDSM and loyalty kink, outright body worship..." But literally anything you think I'd enjoy would be amazing! And with the sexual exploration tag specifically, does it mean they're trying new things, haven't gotten to have sex much, haven't actually had sex at all yet for whatever reason, have only had simple sex and are getting a little inventive/exploratory, haven't all three had sex at the same time? The Spectacular Spider-Man (Cartoon)
Donald Menken/Phineas Mason

Okay, this is a ship where they never actually met in canon, Phineas is a fairly minor character, and Menken is a "7 minutes of canon in a 10 hour series" minor character. So let me explain.

Basically, I can easily imagine these two bonding over their similarities if they had a chance to get to know one another, and I can think of a few scenarios in which they might. They're both professionals, even if Phineas is often more casual and shows more mischeviousness. They both have some sort of expertise that leaves other people relying on them and like to work in a support capacity out of the spotlight: Phineas as a tech genius and Menken as a P.A.

But what really intrigues me is that... Phineas seems to be doing all of these criminal things, working with first Chameleon and Quentin Beck, then the Sinister Six, then even doing work for Tombstone and the Enforcers, solely because he enjoys doing it; he's enough of a genius that he could easily sell legal inventions! He has absolutely no origin story or anything, I have to assume his criminal career is for the love of it. And Menken's contributions in-series go beyond loyalty to Osborn and far beyond P.A. duties; his reaction in the finale makes me pretty certain he didn't ever know that Osborn was the Green Goblin, so just in his capacity as personal assistant to the CEO of Oscorp he was a)willing to run in alongside a security guard with only a cell phone to face a supervillain, b)coordinating with Osborn's "operatives" to try to find an escaped supervillain who wants Osborn dead, and c)calmly in charge of an auction where supervillains and mobsters were betting millions of dollars on the specs to the same impenetrable armor used to create the supervillain Rhino, which Osborn for some mysterious reason had proprietary access to. So Menken was willing to do some very criminal shit unflinchingly while not asking too many questions. There's probably different possible interpretations, but I feel like it's another similarity with Phineas: getting involved with criminal and supercriminal stuff was exciting and more enjoyable to both of them than just having a completely normal career. (Whether or not Menken would initially admit that he's even the type of person to want danger and adrenaline in his life, but then, hey, Phineas likes to deny that he's theatrical as hell...)

For any sort of setup, whether you explore it at all in fic or just take it as read, I feel like there are a lot of possibilities as to how they might have met and how they might know one another post-canon. If Menken continues to work for Oscorp after Norman Osborn's apparent death (maybe even stepping in as CEO?), some shit going down could bring him into the Sinister Six's sphere, and/or that of Chameleon and company... or Tinkerer just ends up doing some work for Oscorp. If Osborn comes back, as himself or as the Goblin, maybe he tries to finish the job and kill Menken and/or Menken is just very calmly fine with Vulture trying to kill his old boss due to how Osborn betrayed him. Maybe Menken hears of the Tinkerer and goes to him to get some sort of protection just in case Osborn survived and comes back; maybe it's a skill-enhancement suit, maybe he even gets drawn into the supervillain lifestyle as Tinkerer notes that he's more into this than he'd like to admit. (Feel free to make up a supervillain identity for him or use something like, idk, Scorpion or Owl from the comics!) Or maybe instead of that, Menken leaves Oscorp to become L. Thompson Lincoln's P.A. in order to try to get protection; maybe he's open to becoming Tombstone's new right hand man, or denies that he wants to but is intrigued by the idea, or just honestly doesn't like the idea, but either way he could easily meet Tinkerer if Tinkerer is continuing to do work on commission for Tombstone. Or it's Silver Sable and/or Silvio Manfredi they're both doing work for.

TL;DR I think if they got to talking in a professional capacity there's potential for them to really click, so feel free to use any of these ideas or go with something of your own, and of course feel free to handwave past all this stuff to get to the marriage-related bits!

Requested Tags

  • Courtship - Unconventional Courtship that Ends in Marriage
Honestly, I don't have specific ideas for this but I really like it. I think what draws me to this tag for these two specifically is that they're both so... close to normal. Menken especially would on the surface seem to be a standard, unassuming, even boring P.A., and while Phineas is offbeat the Tinkerer is still the most "just a normal guy" out of all of the supervillains and even major criminals in NYC! But Phineas still isn't a normal person and there really does seem to be something unusual about Menken. They could have a surprisingly normal, standard courtship given their circumstances but I could easily see them having a courtship that isn't wildly bizarre but is still not exactly the conventional way it goes for most normal people!

  • Dimension Travel - Getting Together After Meeting The AU Married Couple Version of Themselves
  • Soul Bond - Dancing At Friend's Wedding Leads To Unexpected Soul Bond
  • Time Travel - Consciousness Time Travels Into Future With Surprising Marriage Partner
These are tags that are "impossible" given just what we see in canon, but honestly this is a cartoon based on Marvel comics, these scenarios aren't that weird! (I'm only partly kidding; feel free to handwave the science of this shit or just go "oh yeah oops magic is real/this is a thing and no one knows how or why.") For dimension travel and time travel, do they even know one another personally before this happens? Is this why they seek one another out? Or have they been working together/in contact with one another for a little bit beforehand? And for the soul bond, I'm fine with handwaving Menken being a part of or even just getting along with the Sinister Six enough to be invited to a wedding of theirs (Doctor Octopus/Vulture(/Electro), Sandman/Rhino, and even Chameleon/Mysterio are all acceptable), or if they're both doing work for Tombstone or the Manfredi family (or the Tinkerer is doing work for Oscorp) maybe it's just someone in one of those organizations who's getting married and it's less "friend" and more "business associate." (Or "employer." Hey, maybe Tombstone and Silvermane get married to unite their crime families!) Or maybe this is marriage that Phineas has infiltrated along with Beck and Chameleon or something, in which case this could even be the first time these two are meeting! Feel free to have them just as work associates, just as friends, early in their relationship, whatever you're feeling.

  • Elopement - Getting Married at City Hall
  • Wedding - Small and Simple
Honestly, in a lot of ways, these two are very normal and practical. I can see them just going to city hall to do the legal parts; even being in love I could see one or both of them not particularly wanting a ceremony. Or if they do decide on a ceremony, I can see it being a very small one with only the Sinister Six invited, or maybe even fewer people. (Feel free to make up OCs for Menken's family if you like; maybe it's just, like, his parents and/or a sibling plus Beck and Chameleon, or something.) Neither of these two seem like they'd necessarily need or want anything big or showy.

  • Fake Marriage - As Part Of A Con
  • Fake Marriage - Pretending To Be Married To Access Information
  • Fake Marriage - Undercover As Married Leads To Unexpected Feelings
  • Wedding Night - Real Wedding Night For Fake Marriage
Look, with Phineas involved there was gonna be some fake relationship tags! Is Menken himself a criminal at this point, supervillain or otherwise? If not, why is he helping Phineas out with a con/information gathering? Did they plan faking being married in advance or is it something that came up spur of the moment during the plan and now they both just have to roll with it? I could see this leading to them realizing they actually have feelings for each other, developing feelings for each other, or getting/finally acting on attraction to one another! Whether they catch feelings or just decide to jump each other or both, I am into it!

  • Fake Marriage - Characters Marry for the Benefits (Don't Count on Falling in Love)
Honestly, I don't know what those specific benefits would be for these two but you can go wild with it, I am ready to buy in! Looking at the marriage of convenience tags for inspiration, it could be something PR-related, for the health insurance, for (handwaves) career advancement, for tax benefits, or so they can't testify against one another in court, but feel free to play with other ideas! So long as they're practical and agree to platonically marry and then whoa whoops what are these feelings developing...?! I will be super happy.

  • Fake Marriage - Third Party Realizes Their Feelings for Half of Fake Married Couple
Okay, one more fake relationship tag, but this one is unique because they aren't faking being married to each other. Given that Phineas is the one who's done some acting and undercover stuff in canon, I feel like Menken would be the third party here. I also think it's most likely that Phineas is pretending to be married to either Beck or a disguised Chameleon. (Feel free to have Chameleon disguised as a man or a woman.) I am also open to Phineas/Beck simultaneous with Phineas/Menken, or even Beck/Phineas/Menken with all three ending up together, but obviously that isn't at all necessary; I'm fine with Phineas being utterly platonic with whoever he's pretending to be married to! So long as Menken has that realization and Phineas is receptive/feels the same I will LOVE IT.

  • Honeymoon - Finding A Way To Celebrate Marriage While In Hiding/On The Run
  • Marriage - Married mid-crime spree
  • Proposal - During Crime Spree
These are the "oops, at least one of them is a career criminal" tags! And by "at least one" I mean I'm equally happy with Menken not being a criminal, with him being involved in crime, or with him being a full-on supervillain, but Phineas definitely is. For the honeymoon tag, admittedly I think Phineas is not actually wanted by the police in canon, but maybe at some point that changes, or Spider-Man is trying to track him down for something! Or maybe it's Menken who's been implicated. Maybe one of them has even been framed. Or maybe they're not in hiding from the law, but instead from more dangerous enemies! Tombstone is dangerous and also employs the Enforcers, the Manfredi family might prove dangerous (even if Tinkerer did make Silvermane his suit), the Green Goblin might want to kill Menken, Hammerhead might want to take out inconvenient competition... And as for the crime spree tags, whether it's the Sinister Six doing crime (with Menken involved in any way or only Phineas), Phineas and Beck and Chameleon working together again, or both of them doing their own separate crime things, I am into them getting married in the downtime between successful crimes, one of them proposing in that downtime maybe due to being thrilled with their successes, one of them propsing right after a fight with the police or Spider-Man, or one of them proposing actually actively during a crime or even fight! (Maybe due to adrenaline, for the latter two options.)

  • Wedding - Decoy Wedding To Ensure Real Wedding Goes Smoothly
  • Wedding - Fake Wedding To Bait Criminals and/or Enemies
Okay, these were impossible to pass up. Phineas at least probably does have enemies and Menken might have gotten some by this point! I can see Phineas or even both of them enlisting Mysterio and Chameleon for help with the ruse, too. "Enemies" could even involve the cops trying to show up to arrest them (though I can see Spidey not wanting to interrupt an actual wedding, sheesh!), but maybe it's more dangerous enemies... Tombstone is dangerous and also employs the Enforcers, the Manfredi family might prove dangerous (even if Tinkerer did make Silvermane his suit), the Green Goblin might want to kill Menken, Hammerhead might want to take out inconvenient competition. "Fake wedding" could even fall into the same category as that grouping of fake marriage tags above, the one including "Wedding Night - Real Wedding Night For Fake Marriage"; maybe one agrees to pretend to marry the other in order to help draw out an enemy of one or both of them, but they catch feelings?

  • Wedding Night - Sexual Exploration

Go nuts with this one, I would just really love smut for these two!

At the reception stuff! For the first, I am just a huge, huge sap and I find my ship dancing with each other to be super romantic and the first dance at their wedding is EVEN MORE SO. For the second, honestly, "shenanigans" is doing a lot of work. Sure, this could also be the police trying to arrest one or both of them (or just some of their wedding guests. rude!) or more villanous enemies attacking, but honestly it could also include things like... idk, Curt Connors accidentally turning into the Lizard again and accidentally interrupting, or Miles Warren giving some rando animal DNA (whether they want it or not) and them accidentally interrupting, or someone actually coming to them for help, or the Bugle covering it (maybe if either of them is a known supervillain by them, or maybe just because of their guests!) and getting into some kind of trouble, or Spider-Man showing up because he heard that some enemy or enemies was in the area and then realizing it's a wedding and it just being really awkward. Basically, if it feels in keeping with canon and could cause an interruption, go for it! So long as it all works out by the end I'll be happy.

Canon-Specific DNWs

  • either of these two, Chameleon, or really any of the Sinister Six being presented as irredeemably crazy/evil
  • betrayal of or by Chameleon
  • honestly, any of the Sinister Six betraying each other (Shocker not included, he's an Enforcer first and foremost, he was just on loan)
  • major hostility of any of the Six towards Menken
  • Electro being referred to as anything other than Electro if he shows up/is mentioned
Canon-Specific Likes

  • noncanon background pairings I actually enjoy if they happen to come up: Doctor Octopus/Vulture(/Electro), Sandman/Rhino, Chameleon/Mysterio
  • also, Phineas/Quentin(/Chameleon) simultaneous with Phineas/Menken, or Quentin/Phineas/Menken, is noncanon poly I would be totally okay with, so long as it's Phineas and Menken that have the heavy focus; obviously this is not necessary
  • generally I like Sinister Six poly even if it's not the focus, actually, if the Sinister Six are included
  • nicknames! pet names! Menken is solely referred to as Menken in-series, in a professional/distant capacity (by Norman Osborn, Harry, and Spidey); even without shipping any of them I like the idea that Chameleon, Phineas, and Quentin are close and Chameleon still refers to the two of them solely by surname, so maybe even in a ship these two might refer to each other as Menken and Mason? or do they get on first-name basis? Ock calls the Tinkerer "Phineas" but no one calls Menken "Donald" or "Don" in the show itself; is it rare for anyone to get that close to him? (as a note, "Phin" is also fine, I'm easy.) and when it comes to supervillain names... if Menken calls him Tinkerer, is it in a professional capacity, as a form of flirting, or potentially due to a thrill he might get interacting with supervillains? if you make Menken a supervillain as well, would Tinkerer calling him by that name (whatever you choose) be professional, a sign of acceptance, an encouragement into this way of life, a flirtation... and how would Menken feel being called that?
  • if he shows up, I do love Chameleon's habit of referring to literally everyone by surname even if he might be close to them, and I like that he's solely known as Chameleon; on the other hand, I also love Doctor Octopus's habit of referring to people he's on good terms with by first name if he shows up. I also like Electro's habit of calling Doctor Octopus "Doc" and Vulture "Vulch," so if he shows up in the fic, maybe he calls Tinkerer "Tink"? (If so I'd rather he like it than hate it!) I'd also welcome him coming up with a little nickname for Menken's supervillain name if you go that route!
  • if you're interested, I like trans headcanons for either/both of these characters! I like the idea of both of them as trans men, actually, but either/both nonbinary or trans women would also be fine. trans headcanons for Mysterio or any other Sinister Six if they show up are also 100% good; I would prefer Electro as a trans woman or nonbinary if you write that character as trans, and if Chameleon is included or mentioned I especially like nonbinary for him, but anything goes for all the rest of them! and of course trans headcanons aren't obligatory!

The Spectacular Spider-Man (Cartoon)
Phineas Mason/Quentin Beck

THESE TWO MAKE ME HAPPY. When we're first introduced to them they're the kinda grouchy-seeming professionals working with Chameleon and playing a dumb card-flicking game in "bisexuals can't sit normally" fashion while they wait. They're basically Chameleon's backup in that episode, and you don't get to see fully what they're like until the second season, but I really like the juxtaposition of how they are in this episode as compared to later ones! (Personally, I feel as if neither of them had their supervillain identities at all until somewhere between "Persona" and "Blueprints" when the Master Planner hired them. I also feel that they'd been working together for at least a little while before their introductory episode, though who was the first to work with who, out of the three of them, and for how long, is totally up to you. Also up to you whether they usually call each other by first name or last name, and how often they call each other by supervillain name nowadays!)

Quentin Beck used to be a special effects technician before leaving for his life of crime, and he's got a very interesting balance between his real self and the Mysterio act that I find really fun! He's a professional and Mysterio is an overly-theatrical fuckin dork, but Quentin is also deep down (and not so deep down) a theatrical dork. I can imagine that Quentin puts some of the things he wants to be into Mysterio, because that's common for supervillains and superheroes both, but Mysterio is also a role he plays for a specific purpose: misdirection, keeping people focused on him rather than his tricks or the crimes his act is distracting away from! That said, he got hired to be Mysterio for the thefts and then just decided that was fun as hell and absolutely wanted to do from then on, so there's also that element to him. I feel like he's also enjoying getting to be center stage as Mysterio in a way he doesn't get to be on jobs with Chameleon. Phineas Mason, on the other hand, is an inventor who rolls his eyes at "actors" being theatrical but is absolutely theatrical himself even if he won't admit it. I don't think he's an actor, not in the way that Chameleon and Quentin are; he was wayyy in the background in "Persona" in non-speaking roles whenever his presence was necessary out in the field, and he seems to prefer to stay back and provide "technical support" and make things for other people to use. But he obviously has fun leaning into the mad scientist supervillain act at least a little ("allow me to introduce our host and benefactor"; "welcome to your lair, Master Planner"; "all that remains is calibration... and testing") and occasionally amuses himself making dorky jokes ("put even more 'ric' in your 'ochet'"). I also imagine he has no criminal record (the arrest at the end of "Persona" didn't seem to stick and one of the cops did say in the first episode that the people Spider-Man apprehends nearly always walk...) and is staying in the background to avoid getting one for as long as possible, because him being able to work within the law is really convenient for them.

Basically, though, I love the dynamic of two characters who are just doing this shit because they love it, who've been working together a while and are developing supervillain personas kind of simultaneously mostly for the fun of it. I have a feeling Tinkerer made most of the robots and tech that Mysterio uses, though Quentin himself also contributed the "will-weaking" gas and the mask and makeup for his own android. (Which also means that the reason Quentin is just never arrested after "Persona" and it's always a goddamn android is thanks to Phineas, which makes me smile.) Phineas might not even charge him for that stuff! Just in general they're basically married and I love that.

  • Marriage of Convenience - Slowly Falling in Love with Spouse
  • Marriage of Convenience - So You Can't Testify Against Each Other In Court
I am super into the idea of these two getting married for fully practical reasons and then falling headfirst into feelings. Brilliant plan, gentlemen! I could easily see the testifying against each other thing being the major reason, but there are a lot of other possible reasons as well if you wanted to go with something else or a mix: power of attourney, hospital visitations, conjugal visits... I honestly like the idea that Phineas is used to and good at making the law work for him (I like to think he legally owned the broken down hair salon, the prop warehouse, and even the big business building that "the Master Planner" built an underwater lair attached to) so it might have been his idea initially, but you don't have to go with that. So long as they get married for practical reasons and then fall in love, I am INTO IT. (I also want to state that, unless otherwise specified, all of these tags could take place pre-canon or post-canon just as easily, though it might be harder to make them work during the events of canon!)

  • Fake Marriage - Get Married During The Mission To Not Break Their Cover But Then They Catch Feelings
  • Fake Marriage - Undercover As Married Leads To Unexpected Feelings
  • Fake Marriage - Undercover As Married While Mutually Pining
  • Soul Bond - Marriage To Stay Undercover Unexpectedly Results In Soul Bond
Marriage while ACTING and on an undercover mission! I love this whole concept. For the first and fourth tags they actually get married and that's kind of amazing to me. For the first one, do they actually use their real names or is the legally marriage binding even if they didn't? How does that even happen? For the fourth one, maybe it would even have been legally binding due to fake identities except whoops doesn't matter if it's legally binding, SOUL BOND. How does THAT even happen? Is this an AU where soul bonds are known? (Does it always happen at marriage and they thought it wouldn't because it wasn't a real marriage? Does it only happen when people are in love and it makes them realize their feelings/realize it's mutual?) Or is there some magic artifact, maybe even something they've come to get their hands on? I would LOVE a fic playing with either of those ideas, them getting in totally over their heads and then having to deal with it and falling for each other! And then there are the two "undercover as married" tags; have they ever done that before, or pretended to be dating or anything? Why are they doing it now? I am down for them already having feelings for each other or for their feelings developing over the course of it, either way!

  • Fake Marriage - Third Party Realizes Their Feelings for Half of Fake Married Couple
I imagine that whoever's in the fake marriage is faking it with a disguised Chameleon. (Feel free to have Chameleon disguised as a man or a woman.) Have any of them ever pretended to be married or dating before on a mission in any combination? If so, what's different this time? Does the third party realize he wishes he were playing that role instead of Chameleon, or is he totally fine with them pretending but is incredibly fond watching them act and/or wishes the other would look at him that way/act that way and then is like whoa? Whatever the case, so long as one has that realization and the other is receptive/feels the same I will LOVE IT.

  • Forbidden Marriage - Considering Themselves Married Even If In The Eyes Of The Law They're Not
  • Forbidden Marriage - Married In Every Way Except Legally
Given that the series takes place in 2008-2009, gay marriage would have still been illegal, and one great thing about villains and criminals is fuck the law. I love these two just being like, yeah, it's not legal, but since when are we fussed about what's legal? We're still going to get married/just going to consider ourselves married whether it's officially approved or not. For the first tag I could really love them deciding to just get rings and go "okay, we're married"; for the second rings would still be great but even those aren't necessary, they could even just acknowledge or realize that while they're not actually married they basically are, whether or not they even decide to refer to themselves as married after or call each other husbands or anything.

  • Honeymoon - Finding A Way To Celebrate Marriage While In Hiding/On The Run
  • Honeymoon - Planned Heist
  • Marriage - Married mid-crime spree
  • Proposal - During Crime Spree
These are the career criminal tags! For the first, are they hiding from the police? Spider-Man? More dangerous enemies, such as Tombstone, the Enforcers, the Manfredi family, the Green Goblin for having stolen from Norman Osborn? Or just because one of Beck's androids is currently in jail again and they don't want to reveal that Mysterio is still at large just yet? For the second, are they still in NYC or have they actually traveled somewhere? Did they pick a honeymoon destination specifically due to something being there that they want to steal; is that part of the fun or romance for them? And as for the crime spree tags, whether it's the Sinister Six or them working with Chameleon, or just working together, I am into them getting married in the downtime between successful crimes, one of them proposing in that downtime maybe due to being thrilled with their successes, one of them proposing right after Mysterio fights with the police or Spider-Man, or one of them proposing actually actively during a crime or even fight! (Maybe due to adrenaline or the sheer enjoyment of it, for the latter two options.)

  • Marriage - Regularly Being Mistaken as a Married Couple Leads to Real Marriage
  • Marrying for Love - Everyone Thought They Were Already Married
These tags are just catnip for me with these two. Everyone thinking they're married! I mean, I could easily see them already being married before canon even starts, so I can understand! For the first, are they together and the repeated assumptions that they're married makes them realize they actually would enjoy it even if they hadn't thought about actually doing it before? Or are they pining and this makes them talk about it? Or does it make them reassess their relationship and realize that they actually do have feelings for each other? For the second, I am just really amused and fond of them, like, telling people they're engaged now/going to get married/inviting them to the wedding and nearly all of the other Sinister Six and even Spider-Man being like "wait, you aren't already married?" Whether they'd been together and it just amuses them or if they actually weren't together and they're like "wow, we really gave off that impression, huh?" I find it really endearing. Have fun with these tags and I'm sure to love it!

  • Marrying for Love - Getting Married After Having Been Together For Many Years
This one's just incredibly sweet. I love couples who've been together for ages and I could absolutely believe it of these two even, like, canonically. Them having been together since before canon even if you're setting the fic 3+ years post-canon so that gay marriage is legal would cover the "many years" thing! I could see them marrying soon after it's legalized but I could also see them not jumping to that immediately but instead maybe thinking about it and weighing the benefits and things. Or maybe they do get married soon after the option is available to them; that could be incredibly sweet. Whatever you go with would be great!

  • Proposal - Proposing on a Whim
Honestly, when I saw this tag and thought of these two, I thought of it as a situation like... them being happily together and not having really considered or talked about marriage or thinking that they'd want it but that affection just building up until suddenly one of them is like, wow, yeah, I do want that and promptly impulsively pops the question. It could even result from the slight shift in their dynamic that comes from Beck becoming Mysterio, whether that means Beck being a little more impulsive or dynamic or Phineas seeing him in just a slightly new light/seeing a new dimension to him that makes him love him even more. Or Beck becoming Mysterio and Phineas becoming the Tinkerer could just make the other feel so fond of their partner that they're like, okay, yeah, this brilliant goof is the person I want to spend the rest of my life with. You wouldn't even have to go with any of that, though! It could be in battle or over breakfast or in the middle of discussing a plans or after extracting Mysterio from a situation and replacing him with an android or while they're lying in bed together. There's a lot of sweet ways you could take this and I'm here for ALL OF THEM.

  • Wedding - Decoy Wedding To Ensure Real Wedding Goes Smoothly
  • Wedding - Fake Wedding To Bait Criminals and/or Enemies
Okay, these were impossible to pass up for these two. They probably have enemies AND they're big fakers! I could see them making holograms or androids and various props and even enlisting Chameleon for help with the ruse, too... maybe even the Sinister Six! "Enemies" could even involve the cops trying to show up to arrest them (though I can see Spidey not wanting to interrupt an actual wedding, sheesh!), but maybe it's more dangerous enemies... Tombstone is dangerous and also employs the Enforcers, the Manfredi family might prove dangerous (even if Tinkerer did make Silvermane his suit), the Green Goblin might want to go after them for stealing from Norman Osborn... "Fake wedding" could even fall into the same category as those "Undercover As Married" tags; maybe they agree to pretend to get married in order to draw out an enemy, either of them or of one of the other Sinister Six (who's invited to the ceremony, of course!), but either they catch feelings/realize their feelings/have been pining but it comes out due to this or they're already together but this makes them realize they might actually want to get married for real!

Canon-Specific DNWs

Canon-Specific Likes

  • noncanon background pairings I actually enjoy if they happen to come up: Doctor Octopus/Vulture(/Electro), Sandman/Rhino
  • I mean I requested Quentin/Chameleon/Phineas as a totally different ship but you are welcome to write the OT3 for any of these really!
  • generally I like Sinister Six poly even if it's not the focus, actually, if the Sinister Six are included
  • nicknames! pet names! I count Chameleon's habit of referring to literally everyone by surname as this tbh, I like that he calls these two Beck and Mason, and that they call him Chameleon as that seems to be how he wants to be known. I like Electro's habit of calling Doctor Octopus "Doc" and Vulture "Vulch"; if he shows up in the fic, maybe he calls them "Mysty" and/or "Tink"? (If so I'd rather they like it than hate it.) I would love them calling each other endearments, them calling each other by surname as well but it still being intimate, them calling each other by supervillain name (teasingly? flirtatiously?), them calling each other by their first names or even Quentin calling Phineas "Phin" is fine. I love any type of this shit.
  • any type of h/c stuff is great but if you want to set anything after that bit in "Shear Strength" with the car accident and psychological torture, I would love to see Phineas get rescued, helped, comforted after that; feel free to go with other h/c scenarios though, they are ALL excellent, any type of job or situation going wrong and one or both getting hurt or put in danger!
  • if you're interested, I like trans headcanons for either/both of these characters! I like the idea of Phineas as a trans man (though nonbinary or trans woman are acceptable), and I could see Quentin as anything really, and if Chameleon is included I especially like nonbinary for him. trans headcanons for any other Sinister Six if they show up are also 100% good; I would prefer Electro as a trans woman or nonbinary if you write that character as trans, but anything goes for all the rest of them! and of course trans headcanons aren't obligatory!

The Spectacular Spider-Man (Cartoon)
Chameleon/Phineas Mason/Quentin Beck

SAME AS THE SECTION ABOVE WITH QUENTIN AND PHINEAS, but now Chameleon is added to the mix and I love this additional element with both of them! IMO it was absolutely brilliant for The Spectacular Spider-Man to introduce these three as a team working together; Mysterio might have hired the Chameleon once in the comics, but otherwise none of them really teamed up, but it works perfectly! The person who can disguise himself as anyone, the special effects expert, and the inventor/technological expert have a lot to offer each other, and I love that they seem to usually hire themselves out to steal shit for the rich and powerful.

Chameleon is a fascinating character to me, both in and of himself and in the dynamic with these two. He's a professional who can have a no-nonsense sort of response to things (seeing his phone call with the person who hired them to steal the symbiote, and his "I did not sign on for this" response in the finale), but who also has a mischievous sense of humor and is absolutely theatrical especially when inhabiting a role (his Spider-Man impression was really funny to me). He has his own life and isn't always working with Beck and Phineas, but given the way he talked in "Persona" I get the strong impression Beck makes his disguises, including the face masks, so I imagine they at least keep in touch often. I also feel like the three of them worked together for at least a few years before we meet them in canon, which is a dynamic I love; they'd all be very used to each other! And I enjoy the idea that when they do jobs together they split the take rather than Beck or Phineas charging Chameleon (or each other) or anything... As well as really liking the idea that even being incredibly close with the two of them it's just Chameleon's habit to call even people he loves by their surnames. I also also like how "Mason" and "Beck"'s names are first given while Chameleon is requesting their help and simultaneously praising their skills! And I just in general really love the idea of a team of criminals who work great together and highly respect one another's skills and are also all in love. (Though I also don't mind if it's a poly V so long as the center of the V is Quentin or Phineas, not Chameleon.)

I'm also fascinated by Chameleon in the sense of like... Outside of Chameleon, who is often pretending to be other people, who is he? Does he even have a legal identity outside of Chameleon, or has he erased it? Feel free to use the name Dmitri Smerdyakov for him (though I prefer he not be related to Kraven in this universe), but if you wanted to solely stick with Chameleon for him or give him a fake name like, idk, Leon Smirnov (the most common surname in Russia, basically like giving him the surname Smith) or w/e that he goes by now when necessary that is obviously not his birth name, go nuts.

  • Courtship - Unconventional Courtship that Ends in Marriage
  • Established Marriage - Happy and Domestic
  • Marrying for Love - Getting Married After Having Been Together For Many Years
These are maybe the most straightforwardly sappy tags and I am HERE FOR THEM. For the first, I love courtship stuff, and the idea of not only a three-way courtship but one between literal partners in crime makes me grin like a fool. Of course it'd be unconventional; Chameleon has to disguise himself as other people to even go out in public, and all three of them go undercover to commit crimes apparently just because they really love doing so! They're all pretty offbeat and theatrical people (even if Phineas won't necessarily admit to being so), so I'd love to see how they do that particular metaphorical dance. As for the other two... Well, I'm just a huge sap and I really love established relationship stuff for these three because I can easily imagine them already being together by the time canon starts. I'm perfectly happy with you handwaving them getting together and just taking it as read that they are. (Also feel free to handwave and pretend that poly marriages are legal for any of these!)

  • Fake Marriage - As Part Of A Con
  • Fake Marriage - Third Party Realizes Their Feelings for Half of Fake Married Couple
  • Fake Marriage - Undercover As Married Leads To Unexpected Feelings
Marriage while ACTING and on an undercover mission! I love this whole concept. Have any of them ever pretended to be married or dating on a mission before? If so, how is it different this time? Why are they doing it now? For the first and third tags, are only two of them pretending to be married, or all three? (Feel free to handwave and pretend poly marriages are legal if the latter.) For the first tag, I'm down for all of them already having feelings for each other, for their feelings developing over the course of it, for them realize the feelings they already had, for them already being together, or even for two of them to be a thing and the third to catch/realize feelings. (I don't care who the third is as long as Chameleon isn't the center of a V by the end of the fic.) For the third tag, at least some of them if not all of them would need to develop feelings because of it. And of course for the second one, only two of them are pretending to be married and the third realizes his feelings; does the third party realize he wishes he were part of it as well, or is he totally fine with them pretending but is incredibly fond watching them act and/or wishes they'd look at him that way/act that way and then is like whoa? Are the two together but for some reason it's watching them act married that makes the third realize his feelings, or is the third actually together with one of the others but the act makes him realize he also has feelings for the other one as well? Whatever the case, so long as the third person has that realization and the other two are receptive/feel the same I will LOVE IT. Have fun with this one!

But one great thing about villains and criminals is fuck the law. I love these three just being like, yeah, it's not legal, but since when are we fussed about what's legal? For the third forbidden marriage tag and the wedding ceremony tag, tbqh, I'd really love for a symbolic ceremony with the other Sinister Six as the guests, that is honestly really endearing to me, and since it's not actually legal literally any one of them could act as the officiant! (Chameleon might be the most fitting with Otto Octavius a somewhat close second, but it'd also be sweet if Adrian Toomes did it, and Kraven could also be endearing. I could see Electro being totally willing to but he'd probably cry. Or they could each take turns officiating the other two!)

  • Poly Marriage - New Third in Marriage Mistakenly Believes Only One of the Others Wants Them
Honestly, when I saw this, I immediately thought of, like, Chameleon being married to one of the other two before even meeting the third and bringing him into their criminal partnership. I don't even have a preference for which of them Chameleon's initially married to and which is the third! His job might have been easier if he'd been married to Beck first and they brought in Phineas for tech stuff later, given that Beck made him his masks, but maybe he work with someone less good than Beck before or he switched up how he did things after bringing Beck in. He and Phineas might have been married for a while before bringing in the comparatively younger Beck for masks and special effects expertise; Chameleon might even be older than he initially looks. Either way, I can absolutely believe that initially the other might think that Chameleon's the only one really interested in them and the other is just willing to share and that they work well together. This is a really fun dynamic that I could love however you do it!

The poly wedding tags! These could be really sweet. For the first tag, is this a universe where poly marriages are legal and there are common traditions for them, or do any of them know any people who've unofficially married multiple people and that's how they've picked up "traditions"? I'd love to see what you come up with for the traditions so feel free to play around however you go with it! For the second tag, I'll repeat something I said above: "I'd really love for a symbolic ceremony with the other Sinister Six as the guests, that is honestly really endearing to me, and since it's not actually legal literally any one of them could act as the officiant!
  • if you're interested, I like trans headcanons for any/all of these characters! I like the idea of Phineas as a trans man (though nonbinary or trans woman are acceptable), and I could see Quentin as anything really, and I especially like nonbinary for Chameleon. trans headcanons for any other Sinister Six if they show up are also 100% good; I would prefer Electro as a trans woman or nonbinary if you write that character as trans, but anything goes for all the rest of them! and of course trans headcanons aren't obligatory!
